Declaration of Principles
We support intellectual freedom, freedom of speech, and access to literature as essential conditions for education, inquiry, and democratic life.
We affirm that readers benefit from encountering a wide range of perspectives, including books that address conflict, identity, politics, history, sexuality, religion, and moral ambiguity. No book should be banned because of its content; difficult literature should be met with context, discussion, and critical reading.
We believe libraries, schools, and communities are strongest when they protect access, welcome disagreement, and create space for informed discussion rather than removal.
